Martha Norris Bird

She retired from Magnavox.

Mrs. Bird was a member of Christ United Methodist Church.

She was a graduate of Washington College Academy and Greeneville Business College.

Survivors include a son: Tony Bird and wife, Betty; daughter: Joy Trantham of Greeneville; son: Michael Bird of Wake Forest, North Carolina; grandchildren and spouses: Susan Metcalfe, Pam and Allen Johnson, Julie and Jason Alderman, all of Greeneville, Scott Bird of Knoxville, Avery and Daniel Bernstein of Greensboro, North Carolina, Hilt Bird of Wake Forest, North Carolina; great grandchildren: Abigail Metcalfe, Jackson Metcalfe, Lane Doane, Eddie Bernstein and Isaac Bernstein; sister-in-law: Juanita Norris of Belton, Texas; brother-in-law: Jack Wilhoit of Jonesborough, Tennessee; and her special nieces, nephews and cousins, including a special cousin, Margaret Kyker, and husband, Bill.

She was the daughter of the late Norman Hilt Norris and Anna Kate Houser and was preceded in death by her husband, Quentin Scott Bird; son-in-law, Jack Trantham; three sisters: Josephine Hale, Fae Shipe and Dorothy Wilhoit; and a brother, Jack Norris.

The family will receive friends 5-7 pm Tuesday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.

Following visitation, the funeral service will be held at 7 pm Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Norman Wilhoit and Rev. Charles Hutchins officiating.

Interment will be 10 am Wednesday in GreeneLawn Memory Gardens. Family and friends are asked to meet at 9 am Wednesday at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery for the committal service.

Pallbearers will be Danny Bernstein, Scott Bird, Allen Johnson, Hilt Bird, Jason Alderman, Lane Doane and Jackson Metcalfe.

Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Bitner, Ricky Trantham, Bobby Wells and Hugh Wells.
