
She was a homemaker, a farmer, and was employed for 10 years at MECO.
Mrs. Gardner attended Salem Cumberland Presbyterian Church as long as her health permitted.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be greatly missed.
Survivors include her husband: Dale E. Gardner; one son and daughter-in-law: Rick and Miriam Shackleford; two granddaughters: Jessica McKay and Jada McKay; a brother and sister-in-law: Junior and Wanda Shackleford; a sister: Ann Taylor; one nephew: David Shackleford; two great nephews: Brian Shackleford and Mark Shackleford, whom she helped raise; several other nieces and nephews; and a special friend: Barbara Young.
She was the daughter of the late Charlie Shackleford and Bessie B. Shackleford Collins.
The family will receive friends 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home preceding the funeral service at 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Rev. Paul Reagon, Rev. Mike Young, and Chaplain Mary Jane Farmer will officiate.
Interment will follow at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday in New Lebanon Cemetery. Family and friends are asked to meet at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery for the committal service.
Her pallbearers will be Mark Shackleford, Brian Shackleford, Mike Young, Mark Harbin, Garrett Harbin and Roger Britton.
The staff of Life Care Center of Greeneville will serve as honorary pallbearers.
