Mary Jane (Evans) Lintz, 84, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 12, 2013 at Signature Healthcare in Greeneville, Tennessee. She was born on March 1, 1929 in Greeneville, Tennessee to James and Lula Evans.
Mary Jane lived her life on her family’s farm in Greeneville, Tennessee. This is where she gained her great appreciation for all of the gifts God provides and also her spirit for life as she had many great adventures with her special cousins, Ruth, Charlotte, and Audrey. She graduated from Greeneville High School and attended Tusculum College. She married Luther Lintz, the love of her life, on December 22, 1947. They were happily married for 66 years and together, continued to operate the family farm with their sons.
Mary Jane was a member of the Hunts Chapel Methodist Church, Greene County Home Demonstration Club, Greene County Democratic Women’s Club, Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), and Farm Bureau Women. She was also a supporter of the Caney Branch Volunteer Fire Department.
She had a great appreciation for the beauty of the world and continually thanked God for all of his beautiful creations. Her passions were her flower gardening and caring for all creatures that inevitably would visit her house on a regular basis for a possible meal. She was the person that could make any flower grow and allowed her sons to grow up with the more untraditional “pets”. Her passions are what inspired her sons to pursue careers in forestry and farming.
Mary Jane was preceded in death by her parents. Mary Jane is survived by her husband, Luther Lintz of Greeneville, Tennessee; her sons Ronnie (Anita) Lintz and Randy Lintz of Greeneville, Tennessee; her granddaughters Nanetta (Chris) Cutshall of Dandridge, Tennessee and Lynette Crum of Greeneville, Tennessee; her great-grandson Mason Crum of Greeneville, Tennessee; sister-in-law Irene Betty Yates of Greeneville, Tennessee; two special cousins, Martha Luttrell, Bob Luttrell and Virginia Sisson; and several cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends. Her family will sadly miss her strength and ferocity for life as she taught them many life lessons, including the appreciation of all things, great and small.
A memorial service will be held at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 15. The family will be greeting friends and relatives at 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, September 15. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memory Gardens. Reverend Sam Smith and Larry Hogan will officiate the service. I’ll give you a flower, mother. I’ll give you a flower, dear. For life is but a garden. To children of 5 years.
I’ll give you a flower, mother. I’ll give you a flower, dear. For to a bride, they’re lovely. Mother, hold your tears.
I’ll give you a flower, mother. I’ll give you a flower, dear. I’ll lay it in your sweet hands.
For our time has disappeared.
I’ll give you a flower, mother. I’ll give you a flower, dear. When I see you there at heaven. When my time’s done here.
