

He was the son of the late Rev. E. M. and Gurthie French.
Norman was a petty officer third class in the U. S. Navy serving in the Korean War. He is a retiree from the U. S. Postal Service.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Kelly French, son Michael (Ronda) French, daughter, Rhonda (Jerome) Banks, stepsons, Gary and Michael Harrell; grandchildren, Tyler (Alexa) Banks, Kelsi (Devyn) Darnell, Trent Besancon, Matthew Harrell, Emma Harrell, Jake Harrell, Charlie Harrell and Justis Harrell. He is also survived by great grandsons, Nolan and Ridge Banks; special friend Jennifer Harrell and friends at Greeneville Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Joann Parton French and a son, Stephen Ray French. Also preceding him, his sisters, Lucille Cutshaw and Marie Cutshaw; father and mother-in-law, C. A. and Pauline Parton and former daughter-in-law, Phyllis French.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home from 5 pm to 8 pm.
The funeral service will be on Wednesday at 2 pm in the chapel of Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home with Rev. Scott Wakefield and Rev. Tommy Staggs officiating.
Interment will follow in Mt Hebron Cemetery. Greene County Honor Guard and US Navy Honors Team will conduct a Military Graveside Service.
Pallbearers are Chris Cutshaw, Terry Cutshaw, Rodney Banks, Zac Randolph, Chuck Bowlin and Richard Adams.
The family expresses a special thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff at the James H. Quillen VA Hospital.
