

She was a homemaker and was born in Cocke County February 29, 1940.
She was a member of the New Hope (Bump) Baptist Church.
Survivors include her loving husband of 57 years: Billy Joe Carter; daughter and son-in-law: Teresa Ann and Eddie Blackwell; sons and daughters-in-law: David and Hazel Carter, Jake and Krystal Carter, James and Joyce Carter, Kenneth Carter and Donna McClain, and Billy (Bronco) Carter and Amy Taylor; sister: Betty Strange; two brothers and a sister-in-law: Bobby and Sandra Valentine and Billy Valentine; a sister-in-law: Patricia Valentine; and a number of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
She was the daughter of the late Eulas and Cora (Stuart) Valentine and was preceded in death by three brothers: Thomas Parke Valentine, Charles Nease Valentine, and James Edward Valentine; a sister and brother-in-law: Louise and L.V. Gregg; a brother-in-law: James "Dexter" Strange; a niece: Mary Hoglen; and nephews: James Edward Valentine, Jr.
The family will receive friends from 2pm-4pm and 6pm-8pm Thursday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held at 11am Friday, May 10, at New Hope (Bump) Baptist Church with Rev. Bobby Miller and Pastor Mike Hubbard officiating. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home Friday at 10am to go in procession to the church.
Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Frankie Hess, Jacob Carter, Lucus Carter, David Fillers, Roger Breeden, George Landers, Jessie Adams, and Roy Fillers.
Will Lane, Keith Barlow and Charles Ker Shaw will serve as honorary pallbearers.
