

R J Ricker of the Camp Creek Community, passed away January 25, 2026 while surrounded by his family. R J was 87 years old and maintained an active lifestyle until his health rapidly declined in the last month. He was known by many from his years of farming in the area and from working for 35 years, ending as a mechanic at Magnavox.
He is survived by a son Jerry Ricker (Jayne); daughter Sandra Bowman (Mike); son Timothy Ricker (Janice); and daughter Angel Cole (Stacy); and six grandchildren: Jeffrey Ricker (Olivia), Matthew Bowman (Jessica), Makaela Welch (Lawrence), Holly Rowell (Dylan), Chris Ricker (Madison), and Carson Cole; eight great grandchildren: Kingston Ricker; Jayce, Maylee and Saydee Bowman; Dusty Ricker; Kaleb Rowell; and Levi and Willow Welch. He is also survived by four sisters: Marcella Hensley, Henrietta Ricker, Helena Chandler, and Brenda Fillers; three brothers: Jimmy Ricker, Bobby Ricker, Robert Ricker and many extended family members.
Jay was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Wanda Cook Ricker; his mother and father, George and Bessie Ricker, and one infant son, Jay Lynn Ricker.
A special thanks to JCMC and Laughlin Healthcare for end of life care. Appreciation is also extended to the workers of Mrs. Belt’s Cafe and the former workers of Amy’s Kitchen where he enjoyed having breakfast for many years.
Pallbearers will be Chris Ricker, Lawrence Welch, Matt Bowman, Stacy Cole, Jeff Ricker, and Kingston Ricker.
The visitation will be held at Kiser-Rose Hill on Wednesday January 28 from 2pm-6pm and the funeral service at 7pm with Rev. Chris Howell and Rev. Harley Greene officiating.
A graveside service will be held Thursday January 29 at Mt. Tabor UMC Cemetery at 1pm. Family and friends are asked to meet at 12:00 pm at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.
