Robert "Uncle Bob" Lee Cansler Sr.

He was retired from USDA as a food inspector.

Mr. Cansler was member of Overlook Freewill Baptist Church. He was a Sunday school teacher for 61 years and was a deacon for several years at St. Joseph's Chapel FWB Church.

He was a Mason of Mosheim Lodge #463 and a member of Eastern Star Mosheim #292. He was in the army and served in the Korean War.

Uncle Bob was the best daddy in the world and was loved by all. He was a woodworker and loved to make things. He loved the Lord and loved to talk about Him.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years: Evelyn Cansler; son and friend: Robert “Bert” Cansler Jr. (Rita Sams) of Greeneville; three daughters and sons-in-law: Rebecca Hill (Dean) of Unicoi, Janice Southerland (Rae) of Greeneville, and Darlene Carter (Gary) of Afton; son: David Cansler of the home; special nephew who was like a son: Michael Cansler of Greeneville; granddaughter and husband: Jackie Hooper (Jamie) of Afton; great grandson: Jayden Hooper of Afton; great granddaughters: Alyssa Hooper and Evelyn “Evie” Marie Hooper of Afton; brother: Steve Cansler of Midway; brothers and sisters-in-law: John Cansler (Joyce) of Knoxville, Ralph Cansler (Billie) of Leesville, SC, and Ronnie Cansler (Belinda) of Mosheim; sisters-in-law: Lucille Cansler of Midway and Annie Bird Cansler of Greeneville; brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Gary “Gus” Smith (Pat) of Chuckey; brother-in-law: Lyle Smith of Afton; sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Wanda Baines (Kenneth) of Afton; sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Alice Arrington (Buddy) of Afton; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend: Charles Gosnell.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Glenn and Georgia Kate Cansler; brothers: Fred, Jimmy, and LeRoy Cansler; sisters: Grace Willis and JoAnn Attanasio; a brother-in-law: Lynn Smith; and a special niece who was like a daughter: Melinda Cansler Greene.

A private graveside service will be held with Rev. Gary Gass and Rev. Dennis Caldwell officiating.

Pallbearers will be Jamie Hooper, Jeff Cansler, Brian Smith, Jayden Hooper, Mike Cansler, and Jim Dykes

A visitation and funeral service for Robert Cansler will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2020.

The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 pm at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home with the funeral service following at 8 pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Gary Gass and Rev. Dennis Caldwell officiating. Greene County Honor Guard will conduct military honors service.
