

She was a retired homemaker. She graduated from Knoxville Business College. Ruth worked on the Y12 Project at Oak Ridge, Tennessee during World War II and did bookkeeping for several vendors during the time of raising her children.
Ruth was of the Church of God tradition of faith.
Ruth was a loving wife, mother of seven children, and grandmother. She was a wonderful seamstress. She will be missed.
Survivors include four sons and two daughters-in-law: C.L. Jr. and Libby Hixson, Lynn Hixson, Arthur Clark and Stella Hixson, Michael Lee Hixson; a daughter and son-in-law: Priscilla and Ray Shelton, all of Greene County; son-in-law: Ricky Morrison of Maryville; grandchildren and spouses: Bronson and Rebecca Shelton, Celestine III and Lisa Marie Hixson, Stephen and Lannette Hixson, Woodrow Brian and Amanda Hixson, Cindy and Archie Monroe, Jill and Kendall Parton, Tony and Jennifer Morrison, Gary Lynn Hixson Jr., Marty Lee Hixson, Arthur Clark Hixson Jr., Anna and Terry Owens, Celeste Hixson, all of Greene County; Ricky Jr. and Tammy Morrison of Georgetown, Kentucky, Jeremy Scott Austin and Jonathan Richard Austin of Nashville; great grandchildren: Brianna Nichole and Marlin Alvatdo of Orlando, Florida, Claudia Gwyn Hixson, Cara Gabriell Hixson, Mark Patrick and Kayla Patrick, Lindsey Marie Hixson, Dalton Anthony Hixson, Woodrow Brian Hixson, Bailee Morrison of Georgetown, Kentucky, Kyle Morrison, Wade Parton, Connor Bronson Shelton, and Christopher "Bob" Morrison; and great-great grandchild: Lucus Alvatdo.
She was the daughter of the late AF and Lela Mae Mitchell and was preceded in death by her husband, Celestine Lloyd Hixson; a son, David Allen Hixson; a daughter, Marcella Ruth Morrison; grandson, Anthony "Tony" Hixson; brother and sister-in-law, R.G. and Betty Mitchell; sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Ruth Bell and Andrew Renner; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Lloyd Clark and Stella Hixson; and brothers-in-law and sister-in-law: Fred Hawkins and Billy and Magdalene Hixson.
The family will receive friends 2-4 p.m. Sunday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Richard Long officiating.
Interment will follow in GreeneLawn Memory Gardens.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
