

He was retired from Plus Mark.
Sam was a member of McMillian Baptist Church.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean Conflict.
He enjoyed going on the paper route.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law: Samuel and Sandy Murdock; two granddaughters and spouses: Valerie and Shannon Hinkle and Paige and Jake Little; great grandchildren: Cory and Courtney Hinkle; a sister, with whom he made his home: Linda West; brother: Russell Murdock of Garden Prairie, Illinois; several nieces and nephews; and his special friends: Johnny Carpenter and Jackie Hinkle.
He was the son of the late Arthur "Big Boy" and Nancy Murdock and was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Murdock; sisters: Betty Armstrong, Susie Key, and Della Mae Knight; and brothers: Carson and James Murdock.
The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
The funeral service will follow visitation at 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Tim Shanks officiating.
Interment will be at 6:00 p.m. Monday in Limestone Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery. Family and friends are asked to meet at 5:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Carpenter, Sam Dixon, Steve Dixon, and Russell Hensley.
