Savannah "Susie" Higgins

Susie was preceded in death by her mother Della Bowman of Greeneville and father Rowe Foster of Glendora, California. She was also preceded in death by precious sister, Mary Calkin, and her sweet, beloved husband of 67 years, Leonard Higgins.

She is survived by and will be deeply missed by daughter and son-in-law Linda and Bryan McCarty of Franklin, TN; son and daughter-in-law: Jerry and Cathy Higgins of Old Hickory, TN; brother Ken Bowman of Asheville, NC; brother and sister-in-law, John and Amy Bowman of Greeneville, TN; sister-in-law: Lorene Harris of Hendersonville,TN; sister-in-law and husband Loma and Roy Ross of Mt. Juliet, TN; beloved nieces and nephews; and very special friends: Ella Mae Erwin, Dick Parrack, Mary Bell and Gerry Duff, Diane Waddell, Dr. Charles Montgomery of Greeneville, Dr. Lamar Ellenburg of Greeneville, Dr. Allen Naftilan and Nurse Judy of Nashville, Linda Ewen and Martha Merryman of Mt. Juliet, TN, Judy Wahlstrom of Madison, TN, and Gay and Gunars Burvis of Franklin, TN.

Susie dedicated her life to loving her family and enjoyed nothing more than the gathering of her family and friends over the years. Each who knew and loved her were invited to visit any time and stay. She enjoyed card and domino games with neighbors, friends and family who could see the twinkle in her eyes as she insisted on one more round. Her joy was to create beautifully sewn items for those she loved and to feed everyone wonderfully prepared meals. A special talent she had that few knew about was her love for writing song lyrics which she could do in an instant while waiting in line or dreaming in her garden of flowers. She enriched the lives she touched through kindness, encouragement and a sweet and innocent demeanor which made the world a better place.

As an accomplished seamstress, Susie put her skills to dedicated use for friends and family alike. She thoroughly enjoyed working with her sister and their customers at MarySue's Fashions on Tusculum Boulevard in Greeneville.

A celebration of life will be at 2 PM on Saturday, May 9, 2015 in the Kiser-Rose Hill Chapel. Interment will follow at GreeneLawn Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be special nephews Randy Bowman, Mike Hensley, Brian Bailey, and Mike Higgins. Rev. Mark Wills will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 PM and 6-8PM on Friday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
