

He retired from Plus Mark and served in the U.S. Army from 1967-1969 in Germany.
He was a very loving and devoted husband and grandfather. His family always came first.
Survivors include his wife of 28 years: Pat Cannon Mitchell; daughter: Kelley Marie Thornburg; son: John Bart Mitchell; step-sons: Marcus Bo Riddle and Michael and Sheila Riddle; four grandchildren: Andrew Thornburg, Kayla Thornburg, Garrett Riddle, and Ketron Riddle; sisters-in-law and spouse: Norma Mitchell, Carolyn and Floyd Melton; brother-in-law and spouse: Lannie and Linda Cannon; niece, nephews and spouse: Wally and Lisa Melton and family, Josh Cannon, Lisa Kale; great niece: Courtney Kale; great nephew: Shawn Kale; and special friends: C.F. Smith, Jimmy Hensley, Larry France, Jess Rupert, Troy Greene, Lori Parton Johnson, and Nick Norton.
He was the son of the late Earnest and Lacy Mitchell and was preceded in death by a brother: Bobby Mitchell; and nephews: Marty Melton and Tim Melton.
The family will receive friends from 5pm-7pm Tuesday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
Following visitation, the funeral service will be held at 7:00 pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Ferrell Peterson officiating. The Greene County Honor Guard and the Tennessee National Guard will conduct a military service Tuesday night at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Andrew Johnson National Cemetery.
