

Velma Lucille Carter Jackson, 94, of the Union Temple Community of Greene County completed her earthly journey and entered into her heavenly reward on December 14, 2014 after a brief illness. She was born in the Stanleytown Community of Scott County, Virginia, but had lived in Greene County since 1951. From 1943 to 1954 she was employed at the Tennessee Eastman Company.
Mrs. Jackson had a strong Christian faith as evidenced by the way she lived her life. People who knew her commented about her kind spirit. It is hard to imagine that anyone could be a better wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt or friend. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Donald Joe Jackson; her parents John Carter and Myrtle Frazier Carter; and a sister Ellen Carter Chapman.
Survivors of Mrs. Jackson include her son David Jackson of Dungannon, Virginia; a brother Kyle Carter of Duffield, Virginia; three granddaughters: Amanda Sriram and her husband Rishi of Waco, Texas; Sarah Munoz and her husband Chris of Waco, Texas; and Hannah Jackson of Greeneville, Tennessee; a grandson Mark Jackson and his wife Kelly of Leavenworth, Kansas. She is survived five great-grandchildren: Ellis, Lily and Stella Sriram and Nathanial and Micaela Munoz all of Waco, Texas. She is survived also by several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 8:45 pm on Thursday at the Kiser Rose Hill Funeral Home in Greeneville, Tennessee. The Funeral will follow immediately with the Reverends Ronnie Baxter and Roger Dykes officiating. The committal service will be on Friday at 11:00am in the Bethany Free Will Baptist Cemetery, Chuckey, Tennessee.
Pallbearers will Kyle Carter, Jr.; Josh Lester; Willie Chapman; Bob Grubbs; Billy Jackson; and Chris Cochran. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Ladies Class of Bethany Free Will Baptist Church and the staffs of Dr. David Franzus and Church Hill Health and Rehabilitation.
The family would like to thank Dr. David Franzus and his staff; the staff of Church Hill Health and Rehabilitation; her caregiver Virginia Carter; the staff of Amedysis Hospice; and the many family and friends that included her in their thoughts and prayers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at 10 am Friday at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.
