Walter Painter

He was a retired employee of Moody Dunbar Pepper Plant for 30 years and was an electrician.

Mr. Painter was a member of Liberty Free Will Baptist Church and attended Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church.

He was a veteran of the U. S. Army.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years: Caren Garland Painter, and son, Cleve Painter, both who were his dedicated caregivers; a daughter-in-law: Doris Painter of South Central; one brother: Johnny Painter of South Central; four sisters: Axie (Bob) Nelson and Linnia Painter (Roger Jessie) of Limestone, Virginia Fellers (Donnie Woods) and Elizabeth Thompson of Chuckey; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Eddie Garland, Randy Garland, Kathy Seaton, and Carolyn Shanks, all of Chuckey, and Kenneth Nelson of Limestone; and several nieces and nephews.

He was the son of the late Ferrin and Ruth Wyatt Painter and was preceded in death by a son, Paul Painter; a sister, Marie Nelson; five brothers: Willis Shanks, Warren Allen Painter, Charles Mathes, Howard Painter and Roy Painter; sisters-in-law, Nadine Painter and Bertha Painter; brothers-in-law, Eugene Thompson and Daryl Garland; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Paul and Sally Kate Garland.

The family will receive friends 2-6 pm Saturday at Liberty FWB Church.

The body will lie in state 30 minutes preceding the funeral service at 2 pm Sunday at Liberty FWB Church. Rev. John Buchanan and Mr. Michael Brown will officiate.

Interment will follow in Liberty Cemetery. The Greene County Honor Guard and the Tennessee National Guard will conduct a military graveside service.

Pallbearers will be Bradley Thompson, Mark Fields, Gene Wilhoit, Wade Mathes, Nick Mathes, C. J. Mathes, Richard Shelton, Dustin Shelton and Jonathan Shelton.

Honorary pallbearers will be his friends and neighbors.
