

Rev. Willard Wilcox, age 97 of Greeneville, TN passed away peacefully early Saturday morning, January 3rd. Rev. Wilcox was born on July 27, 1928 in Paintsville, KY to Sally and Samuel Wilcox. Rev. Wilcox graduated from Asbury College and Asbury Seminary in Wilmore, Kentucky achieving a Masters of Divinity. He was a minister of the gospel for 80 years, beginning his preaching ministry at 17 years of age. Rev. Wilcox was a television minister shepherding the “Lower Lighthouse” television program for 50 years while also pastoring churches in Tennessee, Kentucky, Florida and Ohio.
Rev. Wilcox is survived by his wife of 76 years, Alice Joy Wilcox, two daughters and sons-in-law: Christy and Carl Zimmerman of Afton, TN, Jane and Mickey Waddell of Nolensville, TN. He is also survived by three granddaughters and their husbands: Carla and Mark Roberts of Jonesborough, TN, Bethany and Jared Stokes of Dana Pointe, CA, Ashley and Ryan Thomas of Nolensville, TN. His is also survived by 7 great grandchildren: Lincoln Sentell, Ayla Sentell, Barrett Stokes, Brenner Stokes, Brandt Stokes, Landon Thomas and Leighton Thomas. Rev. Wilcox’s children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the joy of his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents and seven siblings.
Graveside service will be Tuesday, January 6th at 2:00pm at Greenlawn Memory Gardens. Viewing beginning at 1:30pm, Rev. Lowell Rice of Owingsville, Ky and Rev. Bobby Morrison from Horse Creek Church of God will officiate.
