Wilma E. Wheelock

Wilma was retired from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office as a detention officer at both the Courthouse Holding and the Detention Center and was formerly employed by the Greene County Sheriff’s Department as a detention officer.

She was a graduate of Walters State Community College with an Associate degree in Criminal Justice.

She was a member of Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church but attended Mustard Seed Church in Jonesborough.

Survivors include her son: Van Owen Wheelock of Knoxville; daughter-in-law: Patsy Lynn Taylor of Cleveland, Tennessee; special and close cousins: Mike “Eddy” Harris, Brenda Devoti, David Sliger, Rena Mullins, and Kevin Burgner of Greeneville; special nephew: David Tranbarger; step daughter: Rita McKee of Jonesborough; special and close friend: Wilma Milhorn; and special friends at Washington County Detention Center .

There will be a private graveside service at Sulphur Springs Cemetery in Jonesborough with Rev. Jerry Powers and Lt. Jason Lowe of the Washington County Sheriff’s Department officiating.

Her pallbearers will be Lt. Jason Lowe, Capt. Chris Lowe, Brian Briggs, Mike Eddy Harris Sr., Mike Harris Jr., Aaron Whitson, Daryl Taylor, Deputy Laura Tester, Major Brenda Downes, Becky Bradshaw of Washington County Sheriff’s Department, Deputy Harmon Mathes of the Washington County Sheriff’s Department, and Wayne France who was retired from the Washington County Sheriff’s Department.
