Joan came to Canada with her late husband Derek from England over 70 years ago and made this country her cherished home.
Known far and wide for her exceptional baking, she brought joy to countless gatherings with her legendary apple pies, irresistible banana breads, and berry tarts that were always in high demand. Her kitchen was a place of warmth, comfort, and delicious aromas—a true reflection of her generous spirit.
A passionate and skilled knitter, she crafted cozy sweaters, vests, and baby clothes with love and care. Her dedication extended beyond her family, as she tirelessly knitted winter hats for the homeless and delicate hats and mitts for newborns in hospitals. Her hands worked not just with yarn, but with compassion and purpose.
Her social spirit shone brightly in her active participation in Scottish dancing and line dancing groups for seniors. She brought laughter, rhythm, and camaraderie to every gathering, forming lasting friendships and uplifting those around her with her infectious energy.
Since 2018, Joan made her home at Seasons Retirement Memory Care in Milton, Ontario, where she was lovingly cared for by a dedicated team of staff and surrounded by friends. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone at Seasons for their kindness, compassion, and unwavering support. You were truly Joan’s second family, and your care meant the world to her and to us.
She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, creativity, and community—a life beautifully lived and deeply cherished. Her memory will continue to warm our hearts, like the scent of her baking and the comfort of her handmade gifts. She will be deeply missed by all family and friends and forever remembered by all who had the joy of knowing her.
