John Frederick Groh

Beloved son of John and Mary Groh (predeceased). John was the loving brother of Arlene McKenzie (predeceased), Cheryl Brown, and brother-in-law to John Brown, affectionately known as “Bucksey” (predeceased).

He was the beloved father of Beverly Tomlinson (predeceased), John Groh Jr. (Terri), Paul Groh (Lianne), and Tiffany Groh (predeceased).

John was incredibly proud of the accomplishments of his grandchildren: Kody Groh (Michelle), Kylie Leef (Tyler & Emery), Karlie Groh, and Matteo Groh. He was also a loving uncle to Nicole McKenzie-Pouw (Chris) and great-uncle to Olivia Wygoda.

John attended Loretto Academy, where he excelled in sports—an enthusiasm that stayed with him throughout his life. It didn’t matter the game: baseball, hockey, curling, or football—John knew the players, the stats, and the stories behind them all. His true passion, however, was horse racing. He followed the sport closely, knowing the trainers, the horses, and their drivers, and could talk about them endlessly.

He also had a deep love of music, with Merle Haggard among his all-time favourites. John enjoyed many simple pleasures, including tending to his garden, baking around Christmas, getting coffee with friends, and was an amazing artist.

He will be remembered for his wit, his passions, and the deep love he had for his family.

Special thank you to a very special friend of John’s, Kenny, who has been there to support John through out their many years of friendship.

As per John's wishes there will be no visitation or funeral. There will be a private family celebration of life at a later date.
