Dear McKinstry Family,

Our deepest sympathy for your loss.  It is truly sad that we cannot stop the march of time.  As our parents generation continues to age, we often stop and count the blessings of the memories we created while they were still with us.  My parents had the deepest respect for Dr. McKinstry as physician and man of God.  We all did.  We hope you are surrounded by friends and family during this difficult time and that you will find comfort in the fact that your husband/father touched so many lives while he was with us on this earth.  Till we meet again John.

Dear Sandy,
Linda and I are so sorry to hear of John's recent passing.
We remember him very fondly as an inveterate and reliable work colleague, with a ready smile and the ubiquitous cup of hot water in between cases.

I have long ago, forgiven him for dousing the back of my brand new shirt with his cup of water, although at the time I was timidly suspicious of the chemical make-up of that "water".

I am deeply saddened to learn of John’s passing. I had the pleasure and privilege to work with him at GGH. He was a good friend to all of us “techs”, and a great example of how to relate to patients and staff alike. His dedication to his work and family was always foremost.

It was a rare and wonderful privilege to know and learn from John.  I will miss and cherish the days of trying to keep up with him playing banjo, while I accompanied on guitar.  John was an excellent role model for me and always there if I needed him.
The world is truly a lesser place without him, but a better place because of him.

I was so saddened and heart broken to hear of Dr McKinstry’s passing.    Like others, I too had the pleasure of working with him at St Joes as well as the Guelph General.  He always brought a sense of calmness when life was rocky.   I will treasure our heartfelt chats and the many laughs we had.

I pray you will find comfort in your memories.

It's with a very heavy heart that I remember Dr. McKinstry.  He was a kind and honest man.  Dedicated to serving his patients and leading his staff to give the best care possible.
I trained with Dr. McKinstry back at St. Joe's prior to it becoming a LTC and again worked with him years later in Guelph.  He was always open to questions and available to teach and I appreciated that.

 I’m so sorry for such an enormous loss. I have so many fond childhood memories from our time as neighbours when we lived on Bishop Court and also church.
 
 Dr McKinstry always had a big smile and hug for me when I would visit from England over the last 20 plus years. I’ll always remember his kind spirit and warmth even as a little child.
 
 I wish you all sincerest condolences. I hope that you can find some comfort in sharing cherished memories together with family and friends along with the hope of being reunited in heaven.

I am so very sorry to hear about Dr. McKinstry's passing.  I had the pleasure of working with him at GGH and GMCH.  He was such an amazing man and Radiologist.  He was always so kind and caring to both the staff and patients.  He will be deeply missed.

     John was a great friend. He was more than a friend. He was a best friend, a brother, a favoured uncle, he was one who advised and guided me and others on their Christian Journey.  No words can express the loss that I feel and my sadness at his passing.  My love goes to Sandy and their children in this moment of their loss. 
     I have so many memories:  John invited those he knew and loved for coffee at Tim Hortons just about every week up until his health challenges began.  Even then we all still met when we could.  I remember with great fondness the times when our discussion become a debate as we searched and sorted the meaning of the gospels.  Always true to his faith, always honest in his dealings, always caring for those in his life.  
    John ... You will never be forgotten. I love you and now look forward to our next talk in the hereafter.  Tom

Dear Sandy, Lisa, David, Jason and Family,

It is with deep sorrow we learned of John’s passing yesterday. While our hearts are broken for you, we are confident that our Dear Friend went to sleep, wrapped in the arms of our Saviour. It can be no other way, given the loving, kind, compassionate and gracious way in which John lived his life.

Leon and I, along with our family,  are so blessed to have had John in our lives, as a friend, a neighbour and as a fellow Church member. He has set an example of true Christian living to which we all can aspire. We look forward to meeting him in heaven. We pray each of you are

What wonderful memories I have of our trips together to Florida!

Dear Sandy, Lisa, David, Jason, and family. Words alone cannot express my deep sadness with the recent passing of a beautiful soul.

I had the pleasure to know Dr McKinstry since 1977 when I became a new Registered Nurse at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Home.  It was my pleasure to become the imaging nurse from 1990 till 2006.  Dr McKinstry was so intelligent, kind, caring to all who met him, patients, staff, and friends!!  We were not only an amazing medical team, but we were family!!!
