Maria will be lovingly remembered by her children, Rosanna (David Suderman) and Maurizio (Rosanna). She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Christina (Micheal DeRoche), Jessica Suderman (Allan Luhowy), Andria, Jared Suderman (Robyn), Daniel (Stephanie), Robert (Natassia), and Steven (Clorinda).
Her legacy continues through her cherished great-grandchildren: Sierra Luhowy, Mathew Luhowy, Alessandra, Sofia, Anthony, Nora, Luke Suderman, Arthur, Kayla, Elliot, and Jacob.
She will also be dearly missed by her siblings: Iolanda (Oscar DiIlio), Tonino (Anna), Angela (Tonino Caravaggio), Lidia (Camillo Bellisario), and her sisters-in-law Gianna (late Arturo), Ida (Luciano Pennachioli), Rita (Luigi Memme), and her brother-in-law Angelo (Lunetta) and many nieces and nephews.
Maria was born in Rocca San Giovanni (Piano Favaro) Italy on June 28, 1935, and lived a life devoted to her family, whom she cherished above all else. She married in 1956 and had 2 children. In 1966, she came to Canada with her children and settled in Guelph with her husband who came a year earlier. Over the years, she moved several homes within Guelph and built a life grounded in hard work and devotion. Maria worked in a bakery and later at St. Joseph Hospital in the Kitchen Department for several years until her retirement.
Maria was a strong and determined woman who believed in getting things done without delay—never one to let tasks pile up for tomorrow. It was a quality that defined her life and guided her through both busy and challenging times.
She was rarely still for long, always finding a reason to go out and stay active. Travel was a great joy in her life, with frequent trips each year. She and her husband spent many happy months together in Mexico, Italy, and other destinations, creating cherished memories along the way. Closer to home, she enjoyed visits to St. Jacobs and nearby farms, where she gathered fresh eggs and vegetables to share generously with family and friends.
Maria never arrived anywhere empty-handed. She found her greatest happiness in the company of others—visiting loved ones and many friends socializing. At home, Maria and Luigi filled their days cooking and baking, often preparing large batches of cookies. She also found joy in knitting and crocheting, creating house slippers, baby blankets, baby outfits, and countless washcloths, which she lovingly gave away during her visits.
