Peter was the devoted husband of Leslie Wechselmann, with whom he shared 48 years of marriage. A respected lawyer, Peter practiced law with the Ontario government for 48 years, most recently serving as a Solicitor with the Ministry of Agriculture in Guelph. He was a long-standing resident of Guelph, where he lived for 29 years and remained deeply connected to the community.
A master conversationalist and gifted raconteur, Peter excelled in thoughtful discussions and spirited debates on meaningful social and political issues. He was known for his devilish sense of humour and his ability to find and delight in the lighter side of life.
Kind, generous, and charitable, Peter strongly believed in giving back. He was actively involved as a volunteer with the Ontario Kidney Transplant Ambassador Program, where he chaired committee meetings and played an instrumental role in educating prospective kidney transplant recipients. He generously met with and counselled individuals, helping guide them through the transplant process with compassion and insight.
Peter was an avid motorcyclist, hunter, and fisherman who loved the great outdoors. He and Leslie especially cherished long, extended trips to destinations of their choosing on his motorcycle. They were also frequent travelers to Europe, particularly Germany, Peter’s country of birth.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home. Private cremation services have taken place. Donations in Peter’s memory may be made to the Transplant Ambassador Program or Hospice Wellington would be greatly appreciated by the family.
