Dick passed away peacefully, leaving a legacy of love, laughter, and hard work. He was married to his cherished wife, Joy, for 69 years, a partnership built on love, respect, and shared memories.
Dick was a proud father to Richard (Nancy), Kelly (Andy), Casey (Graca), Tim (Shelly), and Mary Jo (Pat), and an even prouder grandfather to 13 grandchildren and great-grandfather to 15. He is also survived by his siblings Joan, Elizabeth, Harold, and predeceased by his parents Harold and Catharine and sister Marilyn. Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
Dick and Joy raised their family on a farm in Eramosa Township, where they made lasting friendships with neighbors and visitors alike. Dick's pride and joy was his strawberry patch, and he worked tirelessly to produce quality fruits and vegetables. For 34 years, he welcomed people to pick their own strawberries, always striving to provide a pleasant experience for all.
Dick was known for his quick quips. His sense of humor never wavered, and he continued to make people laugh, even in his final days. As a father and grandfather, Dick offered steady, strong guidance, always there for his family with love and wisdom.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Rest in peace, Dick.
Special thanks to Dr. Digby, Dr. Shafir, as well as Dr. Robert Goldsmith who looked after Dick and his family for many years, and heartfelt gratitude to the staff and volunteers of Hospice Wellington for their wonderful care and support.
Cremation has taken place. Donations in memory of Dick to Hospice Wellington would be appreciated by the family.
