

Robert, originally of the Abruzzo region, Italy, settled in Guelph with his parents, Carlo and Emilia Finoro, and later, little sister Mary (Rice) Over the years, he made many lasting friendships at his places of employment: Kearney National, Standard Auto Glass, and W.C. Woods. It was at Kearney’s that he met the love of his life, Barbara (nee Cannon). They married in 1968 and welcomed their son, Brian, in 1969.
Robert -known as Bob to many- loved socializing with friends and family, sports of all kinds, and traveling to Florida with Barbara in winter. He is known for his jovial and generous nature, with a gift for turning strangers into friends wherever he went. His grandchildren especially enjoyed his quick wit and famous “Grandpa jokes,” which never failed to bring smiles. As a lifelong parishioner of St. Joseph’s Church, he faithfully served as Head Usher at the 8:30 a.m. Mass and enjoyed contributing to his community in this way. Above all else, he cherished his family.
He will be dearly missed by his wife, Barbara; his son, Brian, and daughter-in-law, Natasha; his grandchildren, Jeremy, Luke (Alex), Rachel (Zachary), and Charlotte; his dear sister, Mary, and brother-in-law, Rob Rice; sister-in-laws Pauline Hazelwood (deceased) and Maureen Murphy, his nieces and nephews; many cousins; and lifelong friends, Bernie and Clara Matcheski.
Visitation will be held at Gilbert MacIntyre & Sons Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St. Guelph. The family will be receiving friends and family on Wednesday, February 18th, 2026, from 1-3 PM and 6-8 PM.
A funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph’s Church, 409 Paisley Rd., Guelph, Thursday, Feb. 19 at 11 AM.
