Sasha Alexandra Demysh

. Sasha Demysh, nee "Stanislawa Alexandra Zalewski" passed away on Wednesday March 15th 2023 after a three year long battle with the effects of brain cancer. Sasha will be remembered by her children Carmen, Lucas and Michael, and her grand-children Dany, Michaela and Thyssen. Sasha was one of seven children and is survived by her oldest sister Nina Shaparew and youngest sister Stefania Bosancic. She was predeceased by her older brothers Stephan and Constantine Salewski, her older sister Sonia Brezden, and her younger sister Valentyna Hamilton. Sasha was born in Poland and was a wartime refugee living in several war torn European countries in her childhood before coming to Canada in 1950. Sasha learned to speak seven languages and became a proud Canadian Citizen in 1959. She married Anthony Demysh in 1958. Sasha and Anthony were business owners from 1970 until their divorce settled in 1998. Sasha's lifelong dream was to live in a stone home on a farm and this is where she retired to after a difficult divorce. Sasha was an active and loving grandmother and was proudly independent until her cancer diagnosis in early 2020. A special thank you to the staff at Barnswallow Place in Elmira for the care she received. Sasha felt happy that she was in such a good place in her final year. Visitation for Sasha will be held at Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home Hart Chapel, (1099 Gordon St, Guelph) from 3:00-6:00 on Sunday March 19, 2023. Internment will be done at St. Johns Anglican Church in Nassagaweya Cemetery at a later date.
