It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of Sharron MaryAnne Valeriote, who passed away peacefully on April 9, 2026, just shy of her 80th birthday, in Guelph, with her daughters by her side.
Sharron was the beloved wife of the late Silvio Valeriote (2024) and a devoted mother to the late David (2023), Anne Marie (Mark), and Mary Beth (Shane). She was a proud and loving Nana to Joshua, Cash, Jasmine, Isabelle, and Audrey, each of whom brought her immense joy. Sharron was deeply involved in their lives, offering constant support, love, and guidance, and took great pride in their accomplishments and dreams.
She is lovingly remembered by her siblings, Gary, Marnie, Norman and Brad, and was predeceased by her sister Judy (2025). She will be dearly missed by her extended family, as a sister-in-law, aunt, cousin, and by many close friends whose lives she touched over the years. Sharron was the cherished daughter of the late Leonard and Marguerite Buck, and daughter-in-law of the late Mico and Mary Valeriote.
Raised in Ospringe on the family mink farm, Sharron developed a strong work ethic and deep appreciation for family and community that remained with her throughout her life.
Sharron dedicated over 40 years as a Registered Nurse, caring for others with compassion and professionalism in London, Hamilton, and Guelph, most notably at Homewood Health Centre. She graduated in 1967 from St. Joseph’s School of Nursing, Guelph. A lifelong learner, in 1989, she earned her Diploma in Gerontology from the University of Waterloo, balancing her studies while working and raising her family - an accomplishment reflecting her determination and strength.
Sharron embraced life fully. She loved to travel, especially on cruises, and was an active and enthusiastic member of the Guelph Bridge Club and her social bridge circles. She enjoyed reading, attending musicals and plays, gathering with friends for lunches, dinners, and special occasions filled with laughter. A generous supporter of numerous charitable causes, she gave quietly and consistently to those in need.
Her faith was an integral part of her life, and she was a devoted member of Holy Rosary Catholic Parish. Sharron formed many important friendships that spanned decades. She will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, patience, and optimism. As well as her incredible strength, guidance, and encouragement during difficult times. Her beautiful smile and warm presence left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to all those who provided care, especially the nurses and volunteers at Guelph General Hospital (6W) and Hospice Wellington, for their compassion and support during her sudden illness.
Visitation will be held at Gilbert MacIntyre & Son - Hart Chapel (1099 Gordon Street, Guelph) on Friday, April 24, 2026, from 2:00–4:00 pm and 7:00–9:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Rosary Catholic Church (175 Emma Street, Guelph) on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. A private interment at Marymount Cemetery will be held at a later date.
