He was born on June 20,1950 to Henry (2025) and Doreen (2023) O'Connell. Stephen was brother to Patrick (Annamarie) and Karen (Rob). He was uncle to Tracylee (Wes), Delaine, Jennifer (Chris) and Sarah (Jay) as well as great uncle and great great uncle.
Stephen had many friends whom he treasured. His career as elementary school teacher was cherished. He taught for the Wellington Catholic District School Board from 1974-2004 and years after as a supply teacher. Stephen enjoyed the theatre and appeared on stage with Royal City Musical Productions, Elora Community Theatre, Putting It Together Productions and Guelph Little Theatre. Special thank you to Hospice Wellington for caring for Stephen in his final month. Cremation has place.
A Celebration of Stephen's Life will be held at Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home - Hart Chapel (1099 Gordon St. Guelph) on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at 10:00 am with a memorial visitation prior from 9 – 10 am. As expressions of sympathy donations to local theatre communities in Stephen's memory would be appreciated.
