Valerie Joan Slade

Valerie was the beloved wife of her high school sweetheart, Barry Slade. She was a devoted mother to Alexander (Elizabeth McRae) and Robert (Shani Slade), and a cherished grandmother to Jacob, Jordyn and Sebastian. Valerie is survived by her two loving brothers, David and Robert Cox.

We will remember Valerie for her selflessness, humour and constant willingness to lend a helping hand. But above all, she was a loving wife, mother and friend to many. Valerie took immense pride in her sons and daughter-in-law for their service in the Canadian Armed Forces. She was an avid gardener, a dedicated marathon participant and someone who found great joy in simple pleasures – especially her Saturday morning crossword puzzles and tea in hand. Some of Valerie's fondest memories were made watching her family grow and enjoy life at the cottage. She also proudly served the Guelph community for over 30 years through her work with Guelph Transit Mobility Services.

Valerie's warmth, wisdom and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who had the joy of knowing her. She will be forever loved.
