

Al was born on March 2, 1936, in Canterbury New Brunswick to Allan and Bernice (McInnis) Keilty. He was predeceased by his parents and his two brothers Ralph and Robert.
After a short career as a truck driver and a butcher, Al joined the Royal Bank on November 1, 1954.His transfer to Newcastle, New Brunswick, in 1958 changed his life forever; he met his beloved Beryl Parks. They were married in 1961 in Montreal. Al’s career with RBC took them to various cities and towns in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Quebec, Ontario, and Saskatchewan. Wherever they were, Al and Beryl made many life-long friendships and were always active in their community. Al was often recognized for his volunteering.
He was profoundly loved and will be greatly missed by his wife Beryl, their daughter Jane (Terry), their son Andrew (Marietjie), their adored niece Anne (Cecil) Vance; their grandchildren Taylor (Scott) and Noah Smith, Alexander and Christopher Keilty; his brother Dr. G.C. (Pete) Keilty (Pat), his sister Joyce Walton, and many nieces and nephews. Known for his unwavering kindness and deep love for his family, Al was a steady and caring presence in the lives of all who knew him. Among many wonderful qualities, Al will be remembered for his generosity, wisdom, and the joy he brought to his family.
We would like to acknowledge the care and compassion Al received during his dementia journey at Parkland at the Lakes and Parkland Clayton Park.
A celebration of life will be held Sunday, March 30 at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax from 2:00 – 4:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a donation to the local SPCA or to Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia.
