

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alma Johnson in the Abbie J. Lane Hospital in Halifax at the age of 97. She was the daughter of the late Ellis and Bertha Johnson. Born in Halifax, she moved to Montreal in 1948 to work for Eaton’s for 35 years.
She will be remembered for her love of her many nieces and nephews and her passion for nurturing flowers from seeds.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Margaret Rose LaPierre, Sheila McGinley, Janet Lynne Johnson, James Robert Johnson, Arthur Ellis Johnson, Douglas Wayne Johnson, Roy Edward “Ted” Johnson, Paul Michael Johnson, Richard Laird Johnson and John Edward Johnson.
She was predeceased by her sister, Viola and her brothers, George, James, Gordon, Roy, Ellis, Arthur, Clarence, and Robie.
The family gratefully acknowledges the wonderful care Alma received from the doctors and nurses of the Geriatric Assessment Progressive Care Unit at the Abbie J. Lane Hospital.
A memorial service will be held at St. Peter's Anglican Church, 3 Dakin Drive, Halifax, on Monday, September 28, at 11 a.m. Interment will be at St. John's Columbarium in St. John's Cemetery, 3415 Dutch Village Road, Halifax. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Greater Halifax, or a charity of your choice.
