

MACKENZIE (CHISHOLM), Anna Veronica “Vern” – 91, Halifax, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 15th, 2019. Born in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, December 31st, 1927. She was the daughter of the late Catherine Marie (Chisholm) and John W. Chisholm.
Vern was a graduate of St. Martha’s Hospital School of Nursing, Antigonish, and continued her post-graduate nursing career at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal. After getting married, she devoted her time to raising her growing family. A long-time resident of Fairview, she was a member of St. Pius CWL and dedicated countless hours to volunteering with seniors’ groups. She loved traveling on vacations and spending summers camping with her family. As an avid hockey fan, she enjoyed her time at the Centennial Arena. The door to the family home was always open and the tea pot was always on.
She is survived by daughters Marilyn (Michael Cusack), Halifax; Monica (Brian Murray), Roslin, Ontario; sons James C. (Colleen), Dartmouth; Allan (Carmen), Dartmouth; sister Mary Cusack, Halifax; brother John B., Antigonish; sisters-in-law Carmel Chisholm; Marie Chisholm; Catherine MacKenzie, all of Antigonish; 12 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband James; brothers, Donald and Joseph.
Visitation Tuesday November 19, from 6 – 8pm at JA Snow Funeral Home. Funeral mass Wednesday November 20 10:30 am at Saint Benedict Church, 45 Radcliffe Dr., Halifax, Father Simon Lobo presiding, reception to follow. Burial in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
