OBITUARY

Arthur "Dinky" Vincent Sullivan

11 March, 1931 – 15 May, 2026
IN THE CARE OF

JA Snow Funeral Home

Arthur Vincent Sullivan (Dinky), 95, received his wings on May 15, 2026. Our eldest sister Beverly was waiting for Dad in heaven with a big smile and open arms. Dad passed away with his loving wife, Lorraine Violet Sullivan, and family at his side.

Dad will be lovingly remembered by his children, Michael (Sandy), Karen (Scott), and Kevin; his 5 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He is also survived by his beautiful sister, Grace Topple (Dimples). Dad was one of 11 children of the late Timothy and Kathleen Sullivan.

Mom and Dad met at the French Pastry, where they both worked for several years. They went on to share 72 wonderful years together and were married for 68. Together, they raised their four children in Kline Heights, the place Dad called home, where he was loved and known by so many.

Dad fostered many friendships throughout his life, including with his dear friend Ronnie Marriott, who grew up with him in the neighbourhood. They supported one another throughout the years and shared a true and lasting friendship. Dad also had a special bond with his sisters, Dimples and Maggie. He always looked forward to their visits and calls. Some of Dad’s fondest memories were of his trips to Florida, where he and Mom had many wonderful times with his sisters, and their husbands. As kids, we loved their time in Florida too, as it always gave us a vacation destination filled with family, and cherished memories.

Dad retired from the French Pastry at the age of 39 and became self-employed. He built several homes throughout his life, with Mom working hard alongside him. Together, they maintained three apartment buildings into their late 80s and early 90s, taking great pride in the buildings and in the tenants they considered friends.

Dad, you were the best husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather ever. You were our mentor, our rock.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr., Halifax, with visitations from 2:00–4:00 p.m. and 6:00–8:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society.

A special thank you to our niece Nicole, Earth Angels Agency, and the doctors and nurses on 7A Palliative Care at the VG for providing Dad with the best care possible.

He will be forever loved and deeply missed.
