Barbara Ellen Bowles

BOWLES, BARBARA ELLEN, In loving memory, it is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Barbara “Barb” Ellen Bowles, age 86, of Halifax, on Tuesday February 28, 2023 at Northwood Long Term Care Facility, Halifax Campus. Born in River Hebert, NS, Barb was the daughter of the late Harold and Eula (Stoutley) Bowles. Along with her parents, she is predeceased by her siblings Harold Jr., Clarence, Blanche, Muriel, and Pauline. She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

When she wasn’t caring for her aging parents in their home on Pearl Street in River Hebert, Barb cared for the children of several families in the Halifax. Her favourite pastimes included curling, collecting dolls, taking pictures, and, on occasion, treating herself to chocolate cake.

The family extends sincere thanks to the staff at Northwood and to her extraordinary and Barb’s dear friend Carol McGillivary who provided support for several years. Cremation has taken place. Her remains have been entrusted to J.A. Snow Funeral Home, Halifax. Barb will be laid to rest with her recently departed sister Pauline in a private graveside service in the spring, date to be determined. Together, they will share their final resting place alongside their parents in the River Hebert Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made in Barb’s memory to a charity of choice.
