

Born in Cape Freels South, Newfoundland. She was the daughter of the late Hubert and Mae (Vincent) Stokes.
Barbara moved to Nova Scotia in 1962, she retired from a long career of book keeping at Dominion store and managerial duties in the food service industry. She was a dedicated member of the Daughters of the Nile, and the Order of the Eastern Star. Barbara reigned as queen of the Nile in 1993 as well as 2004.
Barbara is survived by her husband of over 50 years George, and three beautiful children Davan, Jim (Kim) and Cheryl (Steven) Berakos and her grandchildren James , John and Katie Berakos , and Harrison. Sisters, Jean House-Babstock, Isabelle Parsons, Margret (Robert)Gillard, Vera (Cyril) O Keefe, and sister in law Minnie Anderson. Brothers Harold (Myra), and Lorne (Sharon), and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her sister Shirley (John) Ford, and brother in laws Chesley House, Carl Babstock, and Harvey Parsons,and George Anderson.
Visitation will be held at JA Snow Funeral Home on Lacewood Dr. Sunday May 11 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm, as well as Monday May 12 10-12. There will be a order of the eastern star followed by a daughters of the Nile service starting at 1pm with a traditional service to follow at 2pm. Rev. Jeanne Manning Stright officiating. A burial with take place at Saint John’s Cemetery after the service.
