Bernie was the youngest of six siblings of the late Irene (Davis) and Bertrum Keizer. He was a devoted son, husband, father, and grandfather and is survived by his wife of 61 years Theresa (Levy), his daughter Tracy, his two grandchildren Morgan and Ian Garnier and numerous nieces and nephews. Bernie is predeceased by his sisters Molly (McGinnis), Ellian (Angle), May (Baulderston) and his brothers Terrance and Francis Keizer.
Born and raised in the North End of Halifax, Bernie’s love of singing started as a young choir boy as a patron of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church on Brunswick street. Bernie spent 37 years as a crane operator and trainer for the port of Halifax.
The most important thing in Bernie’s life was his family and only after that was his love of playing golf. He was always up for a game and enjoyed attending the yearly ILA tournaments. He will see his golfing buddies on the nineteenth hole.
We write this memorandum in memory of a beautiful man who blessed our lives everyday with his love, compassion, protectionism and perfectionism, humour and handywork.
To honor his wishes Bernie will be cremated and there will be a private service. To view or place an online message of condolence please visit www.jasnowfuneralhome.com
