

Keleher, Beryl Veronica- 93, of Halifax, Nova Scotia passed away peacefully on March 5, 2013 at the QEII Health Sciences Center. Born in Saint John, NB she was the daughter of the late William and Elizabeth (Garvin) Lean. As a young woman, Beryl proudly earned her RN at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Saint John. Her intelligence was only surpassed by her beauty as she was voted Miss Saint John in 1939. Beryl married Tommy, the love of her life, on December 31, 1943 and moved to Halifax after the War. Beryl has been a resident of the Westmount subdivision for 63 years. For over 50 years, she played bridge with the Westmount Bridge Club and was an honorary member of the Westmount neighborhood watch. She was a faithful parishioner of St. Agnes Church. From the time her first grandchild, Christa, was born she was affectionately known as “Nanny” by one and all. Beryl loved to cook for family and friends, nurse the ailing and was devoted to caring for her family. She was exceptionally resilient and kept her wonderful sense of humor until the end. She is survived by daughter Mary Hellstrom(Barry Goyetche), Halifax, sons David (Evelyn Pyke), Guelph, Donald, Halifax, grandchildren Christa (Colin) Brothers, Halifax, Amanda Hellstrom (Anthony Daniels), Halifax, Lisa (Shaun) Guidolin, Cambridge, Dr. Stephen (Lindsey) Keleher, Waterloo, Tara Keleher (Ryan Hinderaker), New York, great-grandchildren Mya and Tevin Brothers, Josh and Will Guidolin, and Evan Keleher, sisters Eleanor Profit, Collingwood, Angela Young, Thornbury. She was pre-deceased by her loving husband of 49 years Thomas (TJ) Papa Tom, sisters Mary Wallace, Bernice Landers, Yvonne Boyne, infant brothers Francis, Morris, and Jackie. A Memorial Mass celebrating her life will be held on Friday March 8, 2013 at 10:00am at St. Agnes Church, Mumford Road, Halifax. The family would like to express sincere gratitude to the nurses and doctors who tirelessly cared for her on the 8.4 wing of the QEII Health Sciences Center.
