Brenda Jean Carnell

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Brenda Jean Carnell, on October 21, 2024, with her family by her side. Brenda faced Multiple Sclerosis with determination and bravery, up to her final days.

Brenda was born in Halifax in 1947 to Florence Mildred (Jones) and George Samuel Carnell. She was predeceased by her older brother, William Carnell, nephew Craig Carnell, and brother- in-law Christopher “Keith” Dillman. She is survived by her loving sister and best friend, Elizabeth Dillman, as well as nieces Krista Dillman MacEachern (Doug) and Kathy Meech (Roy). She had several great nieces and nephews, all of whom were very special to her.

Brenda took immense pride in her career in medical lab technology, and held a management position at the Victoria General Hospital for many years. During her free time, she loved to travel with good friends, and would reminisce about these adventures for years to come. She cherished time spent with her family, and was never one to miss out on a family gathering.

A very big thank you to several VON nurses, Glynnis in particular, who formed special bonds with Brenda during the past few years. She also cherished a friendship with Bonnie during her later years, and derived much comfort in her presence.

Brenda will be remembered as a loving sister and aunt, the most positive person, and the best Christmas gift wrapper ever!

As per Brenda’s wishes, a small gathering will take place at a later date to celebrate a life well lived.
