Gowen, Brian Shaun - 52 of Eastern Passage. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a wonderful husband and beloved father on Monday, November 14, 2011 in the QE2 Infirmary. Born September 25, 1959 in Zweibrucken, Germany, he was the son of the late James F. and Shirley M. (Bower) Gowen. Brian proudly served in the Royal Canadian Air Force for 23 years with postings at Greenwood, Comox and Shearwater, where he retired at the rank of Warrant Officer. Brian was a Technical Compliance Foreman at IMP Aerospace where he has been employed for the past 10 years. Brian took great pleasure in his new hobby, golf, and the time spent with his friends on the course. He also enjoyed many hours riding his motorcycle with his little girl. Brian’s love of soccer took him from playing on military teams to coaching for many years with the Eastern Passage Soccer Club. He loved the time he spent with his boys and their teammates.
Always ready to volunteer, Brian spent many a day on buses with his kids and their friends going on field trips, Cub Scout camps and many a wrestling tournament, which he thoroughly enjoyed. Brian’s greatest love was his family. He adored his children and they adored him. He will be missed by all of his family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Susan (Wolfe) Gowen, sons Kyle and Steven; daughter, Victoria; brothers, James, British Columbia, David (Linda) Halifax, Mark, Bedford; sister Lynn Gallant (Eugene) Miramichi, N.B. Also survived by parents in law Robert & Beverly Wolfe, Kingston; sister in law Joann Wolfe, Bedford; brothers in law Robert Wolfe, Indiana and Brian Wolfe, Ottawa, several special nieces and nephews. The family would like to express our sincere appreciation to the I.C.U. 5.2 staff, neurosurgery team and organ donation team. Thank you for the care you provided to Brian and the compassion you showed to us. Visitation is on Monday November 21 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr., Halifax (902) 455-0531. Funeral will be Tuesday November 22 at 11am in the Funeral Home chapel. Burial will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Lower Sackville NS.
