Carol Killeen

Killeen, Carol Ellen, 56 of Halifax passed away peacefully on January 30, 2015 in Ocean View Continuing Care Center. Born in Halifax, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Evelyn (Trewin) Killeen.

From an early age and throughout much of her life Carol was confronted with many medical challenges yet always determined to keep her independence. Carol loved children and worked with various families as a nanny. She enjoyed the outdoors, travel, reading and going to the gym. Carol was most fulfilled by her volunteering, helping children with reading. She had a great sense of humor that helped her get through many difficult times. She was also a great companion to her mother who devoted her life to caring for Carol.

Thank you to all staff at Ocean View Continuing Care Center who cared for Carol with such compassion and special thanks to physiotherapists, Rowena and Jake and Elly Mae who took a special interest as a friend to Carol and ensured the needs of Carol’s fish George were always met, Clarmar Care Nuring Home, Heather Maessen with NS Hearing and Speech.

Carol will be sadly missed by her loving family. She is survived by her brother, Dr. Ronald (Lynda) Killeen; sisters, Janice (David) DeCoste, Mary Lynn (Robert) Kersey; nieces and nephews, Matthew, Paula, Ashley, Jonathan, Danielle, Jeffrey, Lauren, Hannah, Liam. She is predeceased by her sister Paula and brother-in-law Bob Wilson.

A private family service will be held at a later date; there will be no visitation.
