It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Cathy, a beloved wife, stepmother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, who died peacefully after a brave battle with a chronic illness on March 29, 2025, at the age of 65, surrounded by her loving family.
Cathy loved music and was a member of the Aeolian Singers in her younger years. Cathy and her late husband Dennis were travel enthusiasts, they enjoyed visiting many countries including a time share in Hawaii for many years. They were also avid hockey fans, they held season tickets for the Edmonton Oilers and upon returning home to Halifax, they seldom missed a Mooseheads game until Dennis was unable to attend due to his health.
Cathy was a loving wife to Dennis for 24 years, who passed away in 2024. She was also predeceased by her parents, Reta and Larry Boner, and her daughter in law Laural Leigh. Cathy is survived by her brothers Fred Bonner (Tracy), Peter Bonner (Julie), nieces Courtney (Andrew), and Gillian, nephews Adam (Kristen), and Lucas (Zohra), step children, Dennis, Doug (Loni Robertson) and Dave. She is also survived by six grandchildren David Holliday (Sandi), Dani Schole (Paul), Darcy Holliday (Alex), Alex Perreault (Jamie Trout), Morgan and Ella Robertson, and by great grandchildren Damon, Jace, Alec, Addison, Violet, Georgie, Jools and Jasper. She found immense joy in her family, and her presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
In addition to her family, Cathy leaves behind a wide circle of friends, fellow parishioners, and loved ones who were touched by her warmth and generosity. A special thanks to her many lifelong friends who supported her at home and visited her regularly in the hospital over the past several months.
As well, the family wishes to extend appreciation to the doctors, nurses and health care providers of the liver transplant team and the ICU teams at the QEII Hospital, VG and HI sites in Halifax, who went above and beyond to care for Cathy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Agnes Church, Mumford Road on April 9, 2025 at 10:00am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the liver foundation or any food bank of your choice.
