Cecil Patrick Smith

Smith, Cecil Patrick – It is with great sadness that the family of Cecil Patrick Smith, 83 of Dartmouth, announces his passing on July 1, 2016, at the Dartmouth General Hospital. Born in Halifax, he was the son of the late Celestine and Annie (Denney) Smith.

Cecil is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Mary (Richard); sons, Larry (Bobbie), Joe (Darlene), Jim (Sharon), and Mike; daughters, Sharon (Slade), Sandra and Amanda (Mark); brother, Earl; sisters, Mary Mildred and Theresa; 7 grandchildren, Rachel, Rebecca, Alicia, Katie, Nick, Isaac, and Brody; 5 great-grandchildren, Joshua, Jenna, Mason, Zoe and Tristin; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his sister, Anna Patricia (Hart), and granddaughter, Jessica Tilley.

Cecil worked as an engineer on the fishing vessels for National Sea Products before retiring at the age of 63 from the Provincial Government as Chief Engineer.

Cecil enjoyed many things which some included golfing, bingo, horseshoes, bowling, hunting and washer toss. He loved Sunday dinners with his family.

We would like to thank the staff of Dartmouth General – 4 east for the care they provided during his stay there.

A visitation will be held on Thursday July 7, 2016 from 7-9 pm and a funeral service will be Friday July 8, 2016 at 10 am all to be held at J A Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive Halifax with a reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia and/or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
