

Passed away peacefully at the QEII Hospital on March 7, 2014, at the age of 79 surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Marie (Arab), and children Frank, Rita (Boutros), and Gina; Grandchildren: Celine, Dominic, and Carmen; (All of Halifax). Brothers Antonios (Wardia) and Toufic (LouLou); sisters, Khawla Assaf, Moura Issa and France Gebrayel, {all of Lebanon}. Predeceased by his sister Irnafally El Deek and brothers –in –laws, Maroun El Deek, Philip Gebrayel, Antonios Assaf and Habib Issa and neice Justine Gebrayel. Chafic was born in Diman, Lebanon on March 26, 1934, to Nouhra and Nazira (Mrad) Daaboul.
He spent his formative years in Beirut and later worked at the Petrol Company, Shell. He immigrated to Canada with his wife and children in 1976, where he dedicated his days to making a better life for his family. In Canada, he worked at Dalhousie University for 16 years, until retiring in 1994. Even with his limited English, it never deterred him from making friends easily and becoming socially active. He had a welcoming smile and a “BIG” hello to everyone. Despite health issues he enjoyed life and maintained a positive attitude until the end. His love of laughter and storytelling will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

Visitation will be held at Snows Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax. On Sunday, March 9, 2014 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm.
Funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Lebanon Church, 3844 Joseph Howe Dr, Halifax., on Monday, March 10, 2014 at 11:00am with Father Pierre Azzi officiating. Burial at St. John’s Cemetary on Bedford Hwy.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Our Lady of Lebanon Church or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
