Meleta and all the Basdens.  I was very sorry to hear about Charlie's passing.  I didn't know him well, but I remember him as being a kind and quiet man.  My thoughts are with you.




Meleta and all of her family would like to thank everybody for their strong support, thoughtfulness, food, flowers, cards and kind words during this difficult time.  It is obvious to us that Charlie’s general manner, through kindness and humour, touched many people during his time with us.  We will miss him dearly.

I am so sorry to hear about Charlie.  I have many happy memories of him and his family from the years we visited my grandparents (Mel & Gladys Wylie). My sister (then Karen but now Linda), brother, Bill, and I always looked forward to our August trips to Nova Scotia to hang out with the "Basden kids" and hear stories from Charlie.

My sincere condolences to Meleta and family on Bas's passing. 
He and I worked together at Maritime Life for 8 years before I retired and the youngster stayed on for another two years! Bas was a joy to work with and always had a smile. We became fast friends while working together. In fact, we were so close people assumed we were brothers! 
After working together we bowled in the same league for 20 years. Every Thursday I looked forward to catching up with him with lots of joking and laughing. We didn't root for the same hockey team; him being a Toronto fan and me a Chicago fan which was the subject of much ribbing. 
I will miss him dearly. Rest in peace my friend.

Basden Family:  Shirley and I are very sorry for your loss. Memories of Charlie are all fond ones, mainly because he was always happy to be helping others or just enjoying a peaceful conversation. I remember Charlie in his uniform and driving his '59 blue Chevy raising dust along the Dover road. Through the years he was always ready to talk and listen, share a small joke, or offer some advice about gardening.

Dear Basden family,
I was so sad to hear of Charlie’s passing. I feel blessed to have known him for so many years and have such great memories. From our adventures on the Princess of Prospect Bay, to driving Kath and I to those early morning Dal classes, to him giving me his NS nasturtium seeds for my Toronto garden, Charlie always had such a kind and generous spirit. I guess a  lot of people have a "good old Uncle Charlie", but we had the best.   Our thoughts are with Aunt Meleta and the family - we were pleased to hear Charlie went peacefully,  as he lived .
