AVIS DE DÉCÈS

Colin Gilbert MacLeod

16 juillet 1938 – 14 avril 2026
Avis de décès de Colin Gilbert MacLeod
AUX SOINS DE

JA Snow Funeral Home

It is with love and sadness that the family of Colin Gilbert MacLeod announces his passing on April 14, 2026, at the age of 87. Born on July 16, 1938, Colin was predeceased by his beloved wife, Patricia (“Pat”), and by his parents, Elise and Graham MacLeod. He leaves behind his three daughters, Mary Ellen (Peter) Brown, Nancy (Kevin) Delano, and Kim (Scott) McCarthy, who were the pride and joy of his life.

To his seven grandchildren—Kalee (Ryan), Rachael (Jack), Eryn (Drake), Riley (Jack), Lauren, Matthew, and Amy—he was affectionately known as “Bumpy.” He cherished watching them grow, celebrating their milestones, and, of course, beating them at crib whenever he had the chance.

Colin was raised in Bedford, Nova Scotia, where he formed lifelong friendships and remained deeply connected to his roots. He was the last surviving member of his cherished “crew,” a testament to the enduring bonds he built throughout his life. In his youth, he played hockey, sailed the Basin, and excelled at curling—a passion that would shape much of his adult life. Colin and Pat were proud members of the Halifax Curling Club, where he took particular pride in being recognized as its longest active member. His love of the sport carried him to competitions across the country.

Colin spent his entire career in the insurance industry, a path inspired by his parents. Over the years, he built not only a respected professional reputation but also many lasting friendships. He was an active member of the Blue Goose and greatly valued the camaraderie it brought. In his retirement, he found great enjoyment and purpose serving his community as a crossing guard, where his friendly presence became a familiar and reassuring part of many children’s daily routines.

Colin will be remembered as a master storyteller and a man of remarkable generosity—someone who would give a friend the shirt off his back. He nurtured lifelong friendships and showed unwavering loyalty to those he loved. He had a passion for sports of all kinds and was an enthusiastic follower of any game involving “men and a ball,” as Pat would fondly tease. Above all, Colin’s greatest legacy is the family he helped raise: a close, loving, and connected group who will carry his spirit forward.

He will be deeply missed and forever loved.

There will be a visitation on Sunday May 31st from 2-4pm and a celebration of life service at 10am on Monday June 1st. Both will be held at JA Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax.
