Hallett Larocque, Cynthia Jane-(1957-2011). Cynthia Hallett LaRocque passed away peacefully on October 21, 2011 in the Palliative Care Unit of the VG Site, QEII, with her husband Roger and her parents, Marj and Doane Hallett at her side. She was 54. She is also survived by her brother Joseph Edward Forbes Hallett(Gillian), her sisters Helen Hallett and Mary Elizabeth Shakespeare(Robert) and the latter’s three children for whom she had a special love. Born in Halifax, Cindy graduated from St. Mary’s University with a B.Comm. degree. For many years, she was a successful financial advisor with CIBC Wood Gundy. She had a quick mind, an enviable grasp of things financial, and a dedication to her clients that inspired many. She enjoyed life, loved music, and excelled in virtually everything she put her hand to. The close friendships she made throughout her life are a testimony to her character and her lively spirit. She led an extremely active life, enjoying activities such as golf, swimming, deep-sea diving and downhill skiing. She gave her time to many charities and was a member of several executive boards. Her final gift to others was the donation of her corneas to the VG Site, QEII tissue bank so that someone else’s sight can be restored. Cindy will be sadly missed by her family and friends, but most of all by her loving husband Roger who fought alongside her during the years of cancer treatment. Special thanks must go to Dr. Rob Grimshaw and his staff, to the doctors and nurses of 5A in the VG Site, QEII and to the Palliative Care Unit(7A). Their love and compassion went beyond what one could ever hope for. Donations may be made in Cindy’s name to Canadian Cancer Society, Nova Scotia Division. A visitation will be held in JA Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr. Hfx., between the hours of 6-9pm on Tuesday, October 25. A funeral mass will be held in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 1727 Oxford St., Hfx, at 10am on Wednesday, October 26, followed by a reception in Ashburn Golf Club(old course) from 12-2pm at which time the family will receive friends.
