Cyril Edward Bayers

Survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Elizabeth (Betty Lynn) nee(Calder), daughter Angela (Mark Stone); grandchildren Scott (Haley Gallant), Courtney (Nick Singer) & Haley Stone & his great grandson Levi Stone. Sisters Judy Cameron & Doris Ehler, along with several nieces & nephews and lifelong friends.

He was predeceased by brothers, Freddie, Bobby & Davey Bayers along with their sister Joan Wallace & his beloved mother-in-law Rosamond Calder of Springhill, who he never had a bad word spoken between them.

The funeral service will be held at J.A Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive in Halifax, NS on August 1st, 2023 at 2pm, reception to follow. Burial will be at the Hillside cemetery in Springhill, NS at a later date.

Cyril spent his working years at Halifax Metal Workers, Marid Industries, Mills Sandblasting Ltd and Deerfield Construction Co. Ltd.

Cyril was an avid Toronto Maple Leafs & Blue Jays fan. His number one passion was being a grandfather to his three grandchildren who he called “His Rugrats” he was so proud of them all. He spent countless winters in the rinks across the province watching & cheering on his only grandson on the ice. In the summer months he would be cheering on his two soccer stars on the field. He did not get to spend much time with his great grandson Levi who is just 19 months old.

He was quite the dancer on the dance floor as he had foot work like James Brown & hip motions like Elvis Presley. He & Betty won jive contests & he would win the limbo contests.

He loved his cottage in Linden, NS with all his heart, where he & Betty had many friends that became their beach family for 49 years.

He was a funny man who always wanted to make others laugh & anyone that knew him would say he was quite the character. He had a love for old cars & trucks. He had a soft heart but a very & firm and strong handshake. He was a man who would give the shirt off his back to whoever needed it.

The family would like to give special thanks Dr. Ernest Johnson who was Cyril’s family doctor over all the years.

The family has requested in lieu of flowers to send contributions to the Alzheimer’s society or Heart & Stroke Foundation or any charity of your choice.
