In Memory of David Landry

	I was very sad to hear of David's passing. My heart and sympathy go out to you, Babs. The last time we chatted was about 2 or 3 years ago at Ian and Ann's September BBQ. We had an enjoyable chat, and it brought back memories of early times as Bedford Village neighbours, particularly when we would get together building the most awesome Floats for the annual Bedford Days Float Competitions. It seemed that the object each year was to “Out Do” the Float emanating from Campbell Drive, and quite often we did. Best of all was that we had a relaxing, grand time, just sharing neighbourly fun times with each other.

	He and I took the same bus in to Halifax at times, along with a bunch of other Bedfordites, all  sharing some pleasantries and news of the morning at the back of the bus before getting started on whatever serious work was on the agenda for each of us.

	When I think of David, way back when we were all just recent arrivals in Bedford Village from various locations, I have the following memory:  A week or so after I had been using a large metal rolling drum filled with water (for extra weight) for flattening the fresh earth that I had spread on the front lawn, the  telephone rang and David asked  if he could borrow the big rolling drum for a few days. He too had a garden project that would benefit from it.  I said “Of course”, he came over for it and we talked for a bit. I was pleased that he had “reached out” as they say now, to me (the new arrival), and I saw that as affirming that Yes, we were going to be good neighbours. Sort of like a neighbour asking to borrow a cup of sugar...

	David was a fine, upstanding man, cherished and respected by many, and who contributed much in the Education field (from the Tributes to him, that I have read).
 
	My heart goes out to you, Babs and Children, in deepest Sympathy.  May loving memories ease your loss and bring you comfort, over time.

I just recently was surprised to learn of David's passing.  I had the joy and privilege of working with and for him at HDSB, prior to Amalgamation.  He was a dedicated, disciplined, creative and understanding educator who led by example and always made students' well-being the priority,  I extend my sincere condolences to Babs, Matthew, Kris Anne and the Family: while your significant loss is heartbreaking, you all have so much to celebrate as so many lives have been blessed through David's influence and leadership.

We met David 34 years ago this past April, when we moved to Bedford Village.  He, along with Krisanne, came over to welcome us to the neighbourhood.  How blessed are we to have had him as our amazing neighbour and friend.  It was a sad day when we realized his health was declining and our hearts broke when we learned of his diagnosis.  Over the coming weeks we witnessed something very special watching how Babs stood by him doing everything possible to protect and support him emotionally and physically right to the end.  We saw ‘love’ in its purest form and it’s that memory we will always keep.  We extend our deepest sympathies to Babs, Matthew & Kris Anne because we know your loss is great.

Krisanne, I’m so sad to hear your father passed. I’m thinking of you and your family during this difficult time.

Uncle David was a very special man. We appreciated his expertise, passion and commitment for education and his advice regarding  our youngest son’s  direction after high school.  Thinking of all of the family during this difficult time. Sending much love.

I am a "new" across-the-street neighbour, having lived in my house for 12 years now.  It was a delightful discovery to meet David and Babs, to have neighbourly conversations and to share stories of consulting and travel. I have two cats - "the Bedford Boys" - and I could count on David and Babs to come and take care of them when I was away. They also have always taken good care of other neighbours. There is a hole in the neighbourhood with David's passing. His friendly, genial manner is already missed. Heartfelt condolences to Babs, Kris and Matt. 

The most important people in Krisanne’s life are her parents. When we were roommates in Nunavut she constantly told me how lucky she was to have such caring, supportive parents. David Landry, job well done! You will truly be missed. Condolences to family members!

I was so sorry to hear of Dave's passing. He was one of the kindest, gentlest and most  decent people I have known. I worked with Dave for a number of years at Cornwallis school, He was a wonderful educator and it was a joy to work with him.

Krisanne and family, I'm so sorry to hear of your dad's passing. I remember him as such a fun, kind person who was always patient with us as kids/teens. I hope your memories of him are comforting during this difficult time.

Anna & I were saddened when we heard of Dave’s passing.  I worked with Dave at Gorsebrook School and took courses at Dalhousie with him.  Dave’s calm and confident manner were amazing.  He had an impressive way of interacting with students, parents and staff.  Such a loss to everyone who knew him.  We share your loss.  Deepest Sympathy to you and your family.

We were a Tower Rd School family during David’s (“Mr. Landry”) years there. He was a wonderful, caring and thoughtful principal. When he was transferred to Cornwallis Jr High, several families including ours, followed him there.  Thanks for being a wonderful inspiration to so many kids.

I was so very saddened to learn of David’s passing.   The world has truly lost one of its best! Barb, I am so sad to hear of Dave's death. I often think about my Gorsebrook days, and the positive influence the "Three Amigos", (Dave, Roger and Ralph) had on a huge number of kids. They went so above and beyond taking us Oudoors Club kids on trips to the hostel at Wentworth, or the very rainy bike trip camping at Laurie Park. Those guys had sooo much patience! 
Dave's  generosity of spirit and time are with me forever.

Sending along our deepest condolences. Dave was a staple on our little quiet bedford hills rd growing up. I’ve lived there since 1974 and as long as I can remember, he was our neighbor. As a kid I recall roller skating down the hill and often time, unable to actually stop, I’d land on your concrete driveway and he’d chuckle and encourage me. I always looked forward to seeing him out gardening or shoveling as we had great chats and he always made time for people. He will be missed. Sending you all love, prayers and hugs.

My deepest condolences to you on the loss of David.  He and I began our careers at the same time  at the old Halifax Board of School Commissioners , both as consultants.  I thoroughly enjoyed those days in the 70s and David was a good listening ear as we made our way in new positions.

David’s level of energy was inspirational!  I would drag myself home thinking only of dinner and bed and there would be David ( often with Babs) setting out on a bike ride!  His halo may have tilted a bit in our eyes after locking our cat in his shed but he soon remedied things by digging a trench in the snow for said cat to get home again.  David could always be counted upon for a friendly ‘hello’ and a chat no matter how busy he was.   He will be missed.  We raise a glass to him tonight.
