Debra (Debbie) was born in 1958 to Marie (Harvey) and Daniel (“Brenton”) Page of Spryfield. In 1980, she married high school sweetheart Reggie Hillier and later welcomed daughters Crystal and Sarah. She was employed at Canada Post for many years where she enjoyed being outdoors (in nice weather) and being active in the community.
Debbie enjoyed travelling, especially to warmer climates with her late husband, and driving around and exploring Nova Scotia. She loved bargain shopping, collecting collections and photography. She loved spending time at the family cottage, sitting by the lake, taking photos of sunsets and playing games with family. She was very proud of her two daughters, loudly praising their accomplishments.
She loved being Nana to her only grandchild, Emily, especially taking her to Dollarama and McDonalds after a swim, or creating beautiful arts and crafts together that she treasured. Debbie loved celebrating special occasions and having Sunday suppers with family. Her kind heart led her to take in any cat in need, rescuing dozens over the years. She passed on this crazy cat lady gene to her daughters and granddaughter.
Debbie had many lifelong friends who were of great support to her after her husband’s passing and during her illness. Many good times were had with close friends Amy, Anna, Karlene and her Canada Games Center pool friends.
Debbie was predeceased by parents Daniel and Marie Page and husband Reggie Hillier. She will be greatly missed by daughters Crystal (Jeff) Boutilier and Sarah Hillier, and granddaughter Emily Boutilier, and close extended family. Her kindness and bravery will be remembered by all.
Special thanks to the staff at the QEII Health Sciences Centre. In lieu of flowers, donations in Debbie’s memory can be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada or your local SPCA. A private family event will take place at a later date.
