It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Donnie on May 29, 2018, at the age of 60. Born in Hamilton, ON, on April 16, 1958, Donnie was the son of Margaret and the late Morris MacLean. He was happily employed until his death at Wacky’s Flooring Warehouse in Dartmouth, NS.
Donnie grew up in Lower Sackville, NS, where he cherished friendships made there that lasted his lifetime. He was a kind and humble man whose gentle caring spirit drew people to him. He never turned away from someone in need and was never too busy if asked for help. He was the kind of person anyone would be proud to call a friend. He lived his life with honesty and respect for his fellow man, never judging others. For his family he was simply the best person we know. He will be missed at his annual golf trips with his buddy’s and until recent years, dearly loved to play in the senior men’s hockey league, hockey being a constant passion in his life.
Aside from his mom, Margaret, of Halifax, he is survived by his brother, James, Lower Sackville; sisters, Bonnie (Rob), Halifax, and Rose (Steve) Truro, as well as his nieces and nephews who were more like his own children to him, Sara, Anna, Jeska, Meggan, Emily, Chelsea, Brendan, Matthew, Zakk, and Rowan.
At Donnie’s request he will be cremated and there will be no funeral. A family service and burial will take place in Antigonish at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, you may honour Donnie with a donation to Parkinson’s Canada at www.parkinson.ca
