

Donald was born in Windsor, ON in 1925. He was the only son of Ruby and James Orrell of Kingsville, ON. Donald served in the Royal Canadian Navy for a number of years and retired as Chief Petty Officer in the Photo Section. He then moved into his second career when he opened the Camera Repair Centre on Hunter Street. He retired from this occupation in 1990 to enjoy travels with his wife across Canada. Don had great enjoyment interacting with his family and was especially kind to his neighbours on Vienna Street and then Gladstone Street.
Donald is survived by his wife of 68 years, Minnie (Stephens), two sons: Richard (Kathleen), Mount Albert, Ontario and David (Grace), Hammonds Plains, NS; grandchildren: Rosalyn Boutilier (David), Moncton, NB, Daniel Orrell, Toronto, ON, David Orrell Jr., Halifax, NS and Natalie May Orrell of Toronto, ON; great grandchildren Madelyn and Ryan Boutilier; sister Ruth Bilham (Fred) of Kingsville, ON as well as many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held at J. A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax, NS on Saturday, August 1st at 1:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
The family also wishes to express our deepest appreciation to Dr. Trager, the VON, as well as the staff of Jubilee East, 6th Floor, Veteran’s Memorial Hospital Halifax.
