

ALLEN, Donald Andrew "Scorch"
Originally of Almon Street, Halifax. Youngest of ten born March 30, 1932. He married the love of his life Margaret O'Neil and raised his six children on Purcells Cove Road. Dad was a proud member and brother of the Boilermakers Union (Local 73) and the Pipefitters Union (Local 56). Working first in the Halifax Shipyards and later all over Canada. He was a great amateur boxer, an avid harness racing fan, and a lover of every dog he met. He stayed in shape by working hard and remained independent until the end.
He is survived by his children, Debbie (Brad) Schlamp, Jenny (Dan) Klyne, Glynis (Reg) MacMillian, Dale (Kim) Allen, Stephanie (Dwayne) Chatman and Mike Allen; grandchildren, Josh, Michelle, Kattie, Christian, Amanda, Tyler, Jaclyn, James, Keith, Brady, Cole; great-grandchildren, Hali and Isabelle; and nephew, Terry (Ruby) Allen.
He was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Margaret; siblings, Margie, Angus, Harold, Betty, Helen, Dorothy, Alex, Jackie (Torch), Kay.
An extra special thanks to the Ingrams, Northcliffe Lane family, Kenny, Davie, Dr. Mary O'Neil, Sister Ann and Dennis and Val Klyne.
Have you ever had a Dad so cool, so lovable, so supportive who was also your best friend. We did. Dad's final wish was to have his body donated to science.
We are having a Celebration of Life Monday, February 13, 6-8 p.m. in J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr., come hungry.
