Edmund Wong, age 62 of Halifax, Nova Scotia passed away June 3, 2011 at the Victoria General Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by those he loved and who loved him back. Born in Shanghai, China, he was the son of Wong Fu-Ting and Sze Kum-Shiu. Above all these things however, he was a kind stranger who often helped those in need, a dear friend who could be relied upon, a devoted husband who always made his wife laugh, and a loving father that was always there for his son. He will be missed greatly and was loved very, very much. He is survived by his wife, Mary Yee of 32 years; son, Eric Wong of Toronto, Ontario; sisters Betty Wong Li (Henry) of Toronto, Ontario; Rita Wong Traff (David) of Tyler, Texas; Stella Wong of Hong Kong; brothers Jimmy and Eddie Wong of Hong Kong; and 9 nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his father, Wong Fu-Ting. Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 8 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at J.A. Snow Funeral Home. Memorial service will be held Thursday, June 9 at 11 AM at J.A. Snow Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada or Canadian Cancer Society. His family would also like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the nurses and doctors of the medical day unit and floor 8A of the Victoria General Hospital for their care and support.
